Why can't I get wireless even though the signal is strong?

I have an XPS M1210 with Intel Proset Wireless. I get an excellent signal (11.0 Mbps) from our Netgear MR814v2 router but I can't actually get on the internet. We even tried adding a pword so the wireless wasn't poached by neighbors. Nothing helps. Anyone know what's wrong?? Thanks!!
