I just need an answer as to "why"?

Aww Hun:( Don't worry about it. I have a friend whose a lot like how you sound, I trust him and love him so much but I just couldn't see myself going out with him. We tell each other everything and he used to tell me exactly what your saying, that when all these best friends he has tells him they love him like a brother but just couldn't see themselves going out with him, it hurt physically, but he could never figure out how to describe it. There was this one girl particularly he had liked forever and she would always flirt around, that's just how it is, but then before she left she would always remind him she loved him *like a brother*. It went on forever it seemed but one day I introduced him to a friend of mine and they hit it off so well. About three months later they were dating and are still together this day, almost 9 months. So you just need to remember not to look at all the guys around you, don't pay attention to all these other people that are little horn dogs or something haha and just pay attention to you.
